What is Detoxification and Fasting Actually?




Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing the toxins and other metabolites stemming from bio-chemical and metabolic functions within you, and removing them through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph nodes, and skin.  Fasting, in the strict dietary sense is the complete abstinence from all substances except pure water, in an environment of total rest.  In our modern day world, the definition has become more complicated because we often include modified fasting in the definition. 

Modified fasting allows the addition of other items to the diet beside water, like juice, fruits, raw food or other simple, wholesome foods. What they all have in common is that they abstain from select food for a specified period of time, with intent toward either increased health, increased mental and spiritual awareness or both.

THE IDEAL LENGTH OF A FAST




The length of time for a fast should always be the length that is right for you at the time.              Remain flexible. Keep in mind that the time commitment is longer than the actual fast. There are the transition periods both before and after, during which you ease away from your full diet and then ease back toward it.

Atsumi offers 3 types of modified, supervised Fasting Programs with the option to transition from one to the other:

FULL FAST:  This is our most powerful cleanse and brings about the greatest benefits and deepest level of detoxification. During this fast, guests will not eat but will drink a lot of water and be given some natural herbal supplements to provide the minerals, nutrients and vitamins that the body needs during the fast, as well as a hot broth to” remineralize” the body, bowel cleansing drinks and probiotics. A daily  massage and 2 daily colonics are included in the program.

JUICE FAST: Is the same as the full fast but with the addition of two bottles of fresh organic fruit or vegetable juices. This is a milder detox than our full fast program.

RAW FAST: Atsumi have developed a NEW RAW FOOD MENU that is perfect for pre-fasting, post-fasting, or people simply wanting a milder healthy cleanse and kick-start to a new lifestyle.
This program includes two bowel cleansing drinks along with 2 bottles of fresh raw fruit and/or vegetable juice, 1 green salad, 1 fruit salad, a dish from our new raw food menu and a raw dessert, probiotics, as well as a daily massage and 2 daily colonics.

We recommend a minimum of 4 days for any of our fasting programs. Guests have come to Atsumi for fasts of 4 to 35 days. Most of our guests stay at least 10 days.
